AFTERCARE ADVICE FOLLOWING YOUR MASSAGE


After your sports massage or deep/soft tissue treatment at Sports Massage Works, we suggest following our aftercare advice to help you get the most out of your massage. For the first 24 hours following a treatment, we recommend that you refrain from drinking coffee, tea or alcohol and instead stick to water and herbal tea. This will help flush your body of any toxins released from your muscles and keep your blood pressure low following your massage. If you feel some tenderness the next day in the areas worked, this is nomal and will ease off during the day.  If you need to, you can apply an ice pack to the sore area (over a cloth or T-shirt) to help promote recovery. Although rare, some bruising may occur post treatment, but please do not worry, it will fade over the next few days.


To promote these benefits further, we recommend a light diet and no rigorous exercise or stretching for the first 24 hours after your massage. Finally, try to make time to relax and give your body time to repair.
